The Great Jack-o-Lantern Blaze

Thanks to my friend Ashley Melgar and her adventurous spirit, I learned of the Great Jack-o-Lantern Blaze in Croton Harmon from her blog a couple weeks ago. Cameron and I decided that since we are not really Halloween people in the sense of dressing up and rotting our teeth that we would embrace the fall and holiday spirit by checking it out. We took the Metro North up to Croton Harmon where the Van Cortland Manor is, and it has been transformed into a massive pumpkin haven. Thousands of carved pumpkins (some real, some not) in intricate designs such as snakes, spiders, dinosaurs and fish. It was rather amazing. I was able to get a few pictures, but Cameron took some better ones on the video camera thanks to the infrared night feature. Perhaps those will get posted later. Anyway, it was a spooky and impressive Halloween adventure.

We should have invited you guys to go with us! Fred and I even became members of the Historic Hudson Valley this year. You and Cam will have to come up and go with us to the Candlelight Tour in December.

(I posted my pics from the Blaze on my photo blog. click here.
