The Help

I just finished this book for book club, and I suggest anyone who reads this blog go pick it up and read it too. I am not usually one for recommending books, especially contemporary literature, but this book really had me thinking about a lot of things, not just race relations.

Never mind that I grew up in a different era in a different part of the country with a different upbringing. I appreciated the reminder that skin color is just that...skin color.

I loved this book. It really makes you think. I also liked "The Color of Water" also very interesting about race (a jewish woman marries a black man, he leaves and she raises a son who writes about her life perspective, very very good)

I also loved this book! I was the worst mom for a few days because I could not put this book down. Luckily, Morgan was in school and Pepper couldn't walk yet or I would have been in trouble because it was a serious page turner!
