I eat my words

So I used to say that I would not be one of those bloggers who just posts pictures and writes about their baby. I eat my words. Let's just be honest here, JHK is better looking than me and is much more interesting to write about even though he is only 6 weeks old. My life revolves around him at this point so unless you want to hear about diaper changing, late night feedings and exhaustion we had better stick to the more interesting member of the Kelly family.

This past weekend we went to New Jersey to visit with the Dawsons, the Bronx Kellys and the visiting Zimmers. Thanks to a positive 6 week check up on Friday, I was cleared to participate in all my former activities including swimming, so we went to the Madison Community Pool where we proceeded to act like children going down water slides and splashing around despite the dismal and overcast weather. JHK did not go down any waterslides but rather lounged around the side of the pool in the arms of Aunt Brynn.

On Saturday, we headed out to Spring Lake to go to the beach, and I have to say this was one of the most beautiful beaches I have been to thus far on the east coast. I still have a problem with them charging me $8 to sit on the beach since I am used to west coast beaches that are free for one and all. We had a splendid time riding the waves, chillin' in the sand and soaking up some sun. JHK soaked up no sun as he spent the entire time snoozing in his carrier under a blanket, but he was prepared to go surfing in his cool duds and lathered up with 45 spf. Miracles do happen in this day and age folks... I was in the sun for 3 hours in and out of the water in my 45 spf and did not come away sporting a burn. That rarely ever happens to me. The sun gods were looking favorably upon me.
And so we relax on this fabulous Labor Day resting from all our labors... or at least JHK is. And so I leave you with his cute face because how can you not love it?
We are raising our boy in Harlem, so he is learning how to make his "don't mess with me face."
