As it is Valentine's Week, I thought I would focus a little love on myself, but since we are in a recession right now and we are a one income family at present it will have to be imaginary. This goes on my list of wants for the future... you know that day when we make our millions and can finally spend money on things we never could. Like...
an artisanal bread making class at the French Culinary Institute.I made some ciabatta for the first time the other day, and although it turned out quite well, I decided I wanted to take a bread making class. I want to be really good at making bread instead of just winging it and being surprised when it actually turns out edible. Aesthetically pleasing is always a bonus feature. I had to call my brother, who is much better at making bread than me, to get some tips on ciabatta. I don't think mine looked or tasted as good as his, but it's a start. So someday, when I have $1350 lying around just asking to spent on artisanal bread classes you will find me at the French Culinary Institute.

(Me, too--I would LOVE to take classes at the FCI.)
I was going to attempt Ciabatta last weekend. Cooks' Illustrated had an article about it in this month's issue. Yours turned out great, Nikki! Maybe I'll take the plunge and give it a try.
