P is for Poconos

Remember how you used to go on those crazy singles weekend trips when there were 25 people crammed into one house and you loved every minute of it? Remember how when you got married or thought about getting married for those of you who aren't) and you thought that those fun weekends would end? Well, I am here to tell you that they do not end... they get even better because you have someone to share your bed with and it isn't your roommate, you have a built in game partner and no one is stingy with their snacks.
This past weekend, we went to the Poconos in PA with about 25 of our closest friends, which included marrieds, singles and marrieds with children. It sounds insane to have 25 people with 5 children under the age of 2 under one roof for 48 hours, but it was one of the funnest weekends we have had in a long time. We spent the time playing games - Egyptian Rat Screw (compliments of Marci C.), Loot (in all the hands I played of this game, I never had a Captain or the Admiral), Dominoes (I think I won the award for having the most points... this is not the point of the game), Catchphrase (until the unit went on the fritz because of a spilled water incident), billiards (Cameron and I played a pathetic game of pool, and I won out of sheer luck) and the Wii (my first time playing and I beat Cameron in bowling but not in the cow race). Some of the more intellectual of our crowd spent Friday night engaged in the debate. And not to worry... we did enjoy the lovely outdoors taking a walk to the lake, seeing deer and changing leaves on the way and garden gnomes on the way back.

And there was food... a big thanks to the Lybberts for an amazing Saturday morning feast that included some of the largest sausages I have ever seen; to Tim and Sally for making a guacamole that was as beautiful as it was tasty; and to the Gardners for a fantastic barbecue and especially Jason for having a birthday - the whole reason for this getaway. Erica's mom made an amazing carrot cake for the occasion, which even Cameron who hates carrot cake lauded as delicious.
I sat back and thought about how the whole weekend reminded me a little of my single days, but this is ever so much better. I would gladly spend another weekend with all of these folks. Happy Birthday, Jason!

Oh it looks like so much fun! I knew that come the blog documentation of this weekend we would really regret not making it up there. This is the second one I've had to deal with this morning! Glad you guys had such a great time (and sort of jealous). Also, that pic of Mbe is awesome.

Awesome photos! I have to get mine up. I need to save the ones with Tedrah attacking Eliot. He might need these when he's older to realize girls were at one point fighting for him.
