A surprise visit....

From our little boy John Henry Kelly II. Named for his paternal great-grandfather. He arrived 2 weeks early on Friday, July 18th (my younger brother's birthday) at 6:43 am. He weighed in at 7 pounds 1 ounce and 20.25 inches long. He's adorable... and we love him. How can you not love that face?

Yes, this really is me on my blackberry holding my baby only about 30 minutes after his arrival. Since I had planned on being at work that day, I had to check my email and let my work know that I was not going to make it in. Yes, I have a hard time leaving my work, but it isn't necessarily because I love it... moreso because I am overly responsible.
I am in love with these feet. They are so long and skinny, but I love them. And he has Cameron's toes.
In an act of miraculous serendipity our good friends Nate and Sarah Jane Bowen had their baby girl only hours before our little John Henry was born in the same hospital. So Eleanor and John have the same birthday and were introduced Friday night. What are the odds?

More to come in the days ahead. If you want all the dramatic details of his swift entrance into the world, let me know. Otherwise, I will spare the blogging world and future mothers the details :)

Oh Nikki! He is adorable. So fuzzy and cuddly looking - not like a newborn (all alien-like) at all. Congrats to you and Cameron and good luck adjusting to parenthood!

I actually would love the dramatic details of his entrance into the world but you may be walking around your house like a zombie for awhile unaware of what day it is trying to remember when the last time was the you nursed him . . . . in other words, take your time. Congrats! He is beautiful! Welcome to motherhood!

I have a friend who delivered on the same day that I delivered Dallan...it was so cool to walk down the hall and go visit her there. Congrats on your little one...good for you to hang through all the contractions...the longest I have gone is an 8...it is horrible!! But worth it!
